Keeping our homes fire safe

We’re working with Fire and Emergency NZ to ensure our households are fire safe. With the help of volunteer installers, we’re aiming to install smoke alarms in as many houses as possible.

We had more than 100 people apply in one day to have a smoke alarm installed in Papamoa homes! Priority is being given to the elderly, and families in need.

Staying safe in a fire

You only have three minutes to escape if your house catches fire, and you are four times more likely to survive a house fire if you have working smoke alarms. We’ll also be talking to people about making an escape plan and other ways to keep themselves safe.

You can make a three-step escape plan for you and your whānau at escapemyhouse.co.nz. It could save your life.
